ALLEGATIONS: Defendant unexpectedly and repeatedly stabbed two family members with a large steak knife at a family gathering causing both family members to sustain serious injuries.
DISPOSITION: Trial to Court. Mr. Bennett produced evidence that the Defendant was experiencing psychosis, intermittent auditory hallucinations, depression and suicidal ideation. Mr. Bennett argued that the aforementioned mental conditions precluded the Defendant from knowing and understanding the wrongfulness of his conduct when he violently attacked and severely injured two family members with a knife.
RESULT: Not guilty by reason of insanity
